LIVE:WELL Is a film comprising of the artist Sunil Pawar’s canvas artworks set to motion. For the majority of his life, London based artist, Sunil Pawar’s self imposed remit has been to create strong depictions of power and strength, exploring the parallels and similarities between classic sporting pose with themes of everyday battles and survival. The battles that we all face on a daily basis.
Sunil’s life experience is resonant throughout this latest body of work which provides a window into the artist’s challenges. At the age of Nineteen, Sunil was diagnosed with a rare form of Epilepsy, two different strains in each side of his brain - however he still succeeds in living a full and varied life to this day. This sense of overcoming adversity brings a heightened tenacity to these vivid portrayals of strength and power with his considered sense of composition and colour.
‘LIVE WELL’ is an animated transformation of Pawar’s acrylics on canvas artworks, a selection of five of his paintings, ‘Zeus’ ‘Troop’ ‘Odin’ ‘Warrior Charge’ and ‘Now’.
A symptom of Pawar’s condition, is the occasional experiencing of momentary lapses or ‘blips’, where the artist undergoes a loss of the concept of time and space. The ‘freefalling’ nature of this momentary loss of neural anchors, is portrayed in the project by camera footage filmed in the Făgăraș Mountains in Romania. Pawar paints in the footage digitally into scans of his artwork creating a dynamic spacial contrast against the intensity of his vibrant canvas works.
